How do I update the grading scheme in the Export Grades to Jenzabar (Beta) tool?

Grading schemes are the scales on which course grades are based. The scheme used in Export Grades to Jenzabar (Beta) is GS (Grade Scale), which uses a letter grade scale of A-F.

The default scheme for assigning corresponding letter or other grades for numerical scores is set by UVA's College at Wise, but may be adjusted in accordance with school or departmental guidelines or at the instructor's discretion.

Important:

  • If a grading scheme has been enabled in the Canvas course site's settings (opens new window), the grade ranges entered in Canvas will not be used for calculating final grades automatically. In order for Export Grades to Jenzabar (Beta) to calculate course grades using grading schemes that differ from the GS scheme, you must follow the steps below and adjust the grade thresholds in the Schemes tab.
  • Accessing Export Grades to Jenzabar (Beta) in multiple browser tabs or windows at the same time can cause unexpected behavior. Please do not open the tool in multiple browser tabs or windows, or multiple browsers or devices simultaneously.
  • It is not recommended to use Export Grades to Jenzabar (Beta) on a mobile device.

Go to Export Grades to Jenzabar (Beta).

Edit the grading scheme.

The display of the Schemes tab may differ depending on whether or not a grading scheme has been enabled in the Canvas course site's Settings (opens new window). If your Canvas site has a grading scheme enabled, skip to the step Canvas Course Grading Scheme Enabled.

Note: If a college or department admin has enabled a grading scheme at the account level, it will not display in Export Grades to Jenzabar for instructors who have selected it. This includes the "Default Canvas Grading Scheme."
