What is the WordPress tool?

WordPress is a tool that allows you to create websites for courses, blogs, portfolios, or projects. If you create a WordPress site within your UVACanvas course site, course participants will be automatically added to the WordPress site when they access it and be assigned administrative or authoring permissions according to their Canvas course role.

Note:

  • By default, UVACanvas WordPress sites are publicly viewable on the web, but they should not be indexed by search engines.
  • To create a standalone WordPress site that is not integrated into UVACanvas, the Learning Technology Services (LTS) team recommends exploring UVA Create (opens new window).

Note: Instructors may find steps to add WordPress and other tools to their course in How do I manage Course Navigation links? (opens new window).
