How do I download a Media Gallery file?

By default, a file published in Media Gallery or embedded in a Canvas course from My Media or Media Gallery cannot be downloaded by anyone other than the file's owner or someone who has been given permission to edit the file.

However, you may download a media file if:

  • The file's owner or someone who has permission to edit it has enabled the option for others to download it from Media Gallery, and the file has been published in a Media Gallery you can access.
  • The file's owner or someone who has permission to publish it selected to embed the file in a course with a Downloads Enabled player. Skip to the step to download an embedded file.
