June 18, 2025 - New Feature

Internationalization Support

Screenshot displaying the tool's text in French.

Anonymous Feedback now supports internationalization to display text in languages other than English. Pictured above is an example of the tool's home page text in a course site where the language is set to French. The text, "Post course feedback anonymously," has been translated as follows: "Envoyez un commentaire anonyme au professeur."

If instructors who set their course site to a language other than English would like to contribute translated text to display when their course is using that language, please contact the Learning Technology Services (LTS) Team and let us know.

For more information about Canvas course language settings, see How do I change the language preference for a course? (opens new window).

Note: If a course site's language setting is the default Not set (user-configurable, defaults to English (United States)), and an instructor sets their preferred Canvas account language to a language other than English, that language setting will also be reflected in Anonymous Feedback. For more information, see How do I change the language preference in my user account as an instructor? (opens new window).

June 12, 2025 - General Usability Improvements

The tool has improved usability in the following areas:

  • By default, the feedback table will now sort submissions by the Date Posted column with the most recent comment at the top.
  • The Mark Selected as Read button will now be disabled after all messages have been read.
  • The sorting function has been eliminated from the Select column.

June 12, 2025 - Accessibility Fixes

Fixes were applied for keyboard and screen reader accessibility issues:

  • ARIA labels have been added to multiple buttons, banners, and links so they can be read more easily with a screen reader.
  • Additional success messages with appropriate ARIA labels have been added to provide users with feedback and clarity.
  • Screen reader-only text has been added to provide instructors using screen readers with additional directions when interacting with the feedback table.

June 12, 2025 - Potential Screen Reader Issues

Potential Issues for Instructors Using Screen Readers

When feedback table entries have been filtered using the Show entries drop-down menu, a screen reader should now announce the changes made to the page. For example, if the table is filtered to show 10 entries, a screen reader should state: "Showing 1-10 of 12 entries."
