What is the Confluence tool?
Confluence is a feature-rich wiki for collaborative work that simplifies online communication in spaces, which are repositories for content that include collaborative pages. A Confluence space includes an automatically-generated table of contents and options to add inline comments associated with specific passages of text, checklists to assign tasks, and labels to aid searching pages.
The Confluence tool in UVACanvas allows an instructor to create a Confluence space for a Canvas course site. Course participants are added to the Confluence space automatically and permissions in the space are managed according to participants' roles in the Canvas course.
Note: Confluence spaces may also be created directly in UVA's instance of Confluence. For spaces created within Confluence, space owners add participants individually and manage their permission settings in Confluence. For additional details, see How do I create a new Confluence space? (opens new window).
Note: Instructors may find steps to add Confluence and other tools to their course in How do I manage Course Navigation links? (opens new window).
