How do I access a recording of an online meeting?
When an online meeting created in a UVACanvas site is recorded, site participants can access the recording via the Cloud Recordings tab in the Online Meetings tool.
Recordings display slightly differently for meeting attendees (e.g., students) and organizers (e.g., instructors). Select your role to skip to the appropriate steps:
Note: UVA Zoom recordings are automatically deleted 180 days after they are saved to the Zoom cloud. For more information about this policy, see the UVA Zoom FAQs page (opens new window).
Meeting Attendees
Select the Cloud Recordings tab.
Select the topic title.
On the Cloud Recordings page, a list of available recordings will display. Under the Topic column, select the link for the meeting to view.
Select the file to view.
On the Recording Details page, one or more of the following options display for each recording of the selected meeting:
- A complete Recording that includes:
- Video,
- Audio,
- Chat text,
- An audio transcript (if the audio transcript option was enabled in your Zoom account settings before recording).
- An Audio only version of the recording.
- A Chat file if meeting participants entered text in the chat during the meeting. Note: Private chats between individual meeting participants will not be included in this file.
Select a recording or chat file to view it.
Note: When you select a recording, a Passcode will be copied automatically to your computer clipboard. On the following page, you will be presented with an option to enter the passcode before you can watch the recording. Use Ctrl + V (in Windows) or Command + V (on a Mac) to paste it in the Passcode field.
Meeting Organizers
Select the Cloud Recordings tab.
Select the meeting.
On the Cloud Recordings page, a list of available recordings will display. Under the Topic column, select the link for the meeting to view.
Select the file to view.
On the Recording Details page, one or more of the following options display for each recording of the selected meeting:
- A complete Recording that includes:
- Video,
- Audio,
- Chat text,
- An audio transcript (if the audio transcript option was enabled in your Zoom account settings before recording).
- An Audio only version of the recording.
- A Chat file if meeting participants entered text in the chat during the meeting. Note: Private chats between individual meeting participants will not be included in this file.
Select a recording or chat file to view it.
Tip: If a recorded meeting was deleted from Online Meetings, you can still obtain a link to share its recording with site participants. Select the Share link under the recording to find it.
