Top Troubleshooting Tips
Have you encountered an issue in UVACanvas? Try taking these steps!
Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
Your internet browser temporarily saves data from web pages you visit in a cache to make them load more quickly. However, if an older version of a page is loaded from the cache, it can cause errors. Clearing the cache and cookies regularly will help prevent problems.
Log out of UVACanvas.
- From your Global Navigation Menu, select the Account menu.
- Select Logout.
Tip: For details about global navigation, see How do I use the Global Navigation Menu as an instructor? (opens new window) or How do I use the Global Navigation Menu as a student? (opens new window).
Clear the cache and cookies.
Follow the instructions provided at the links below for each supported browser:
- Google Chrome: Clear cache & cookies in Chrome (opens new window)
- Microsoft Edge: View and delete browser history in Microsoft Edge (opens new window)
- Apple Safari: Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac (opens new window)
Quit your browser.
Close your browser completely. If you are using a Mac, you'll need to select the name of the browser menu, then Quit, e.g., select Safari, then Quit Safari.
Enable cookies in your browser.
If cookies are not enabled, some content, such as embedded video or audio files, may fail to load. Follow the steps to enable cookies (opens new window) to access this content.
Disable ad blockers.
Ad blockers can prevent access to content, including icons, embedded media, and LaTeX math. It is recommended to disable ad blockers while working in Canvas.
Update your browser.
Make sure your browser (and iOS, if you're using a Mac and Safari) is updated to the most recent version. See the articles below for steps to check your browser's version and update if needed:
Use an incognito or in-private browsing window.
Internet browser extensions or plugins may cause issues with accessing websites. An incognito or in-private browsing window behaves as if extensions are disabled, which can help with troubleshooting. For steps, see:
Try another browser or device.
If, after following the steps above, you continue to encounter issues in UVACanvas, try using a different internet browser (e.g., if you are using Chrome, try Safari or Edge) or computer/device (such as a phone or tablet) to see if that helps.
