How do I delete or restore a file in My Media?
A video, audio, or image file's Owner can use the Recycle Bin feature in My Media to delete the file with the option to restore it later.
This article outlines the process of delating, restoring, or permanently deleting media from the Recycle Bin.
Delete media.
Select the file to delete.

Choose the file to delete by selecting its thumbnail or name.
Select Actions, then Delete.
- Scroll down on the page under the media player.
- Select the Actions menu.
- Select Delete.
Confirm deletion.
In the Move to Recycle bin window that pops up, select Delete to confirm deletion of the file.
Note: Media files that are moved to the recycle bin will become unavailable in any Media Gallery where they are published or Canvas site in which they are embedded.
Important: All files in the recycle bin will be permanently deleted after 30 days.
Restore media.
Access the recycle bin.
Select the My recycle bin button from the top of the page in My Media.
Restore media file(s).
Restore a single file.
Select the Restore (circular arrow) icon to the right of the file you would like to restore.
Confirm restore.

In the Restore media window that pops up, select Restore to confirm file restoration.
Permanently delete media.
Although the files in the recycle bin are automatically deleted after 30 days, a file can also be permanently deleted manually by the media owner.
Permanently delete a single file.
Select the Delete (trash can) icon to the right of the file you would like to permanently delete.
Permanently delete multiple files.
- Check the box to the left of each file to delete.
- Select the Actions menu.
- Select Delete.
Permanently delete all files.

Select the Empty recycle bin button to permanently delete all files from the recycle bin.
Confirm permanent deletion.

In the Permanently delete window that pops up, select Delete to confirm permanent deletion.
Important: Permanently deleted files cannot be restored.
