How do I access media analytics in My Media or Media Gallery?

Analytics provide information about viewer or listener engagement. If you are the owner of a Media Gallery file or you have permission to edit it, you may access its analytics.

Tip: You may give a co-instructor or teaching assistant permission to view analytics for a file you own by following the steps to add them to the file as a Co-Editor.

Go to My Media or Media Gallery.

  1. To go to My Media: Select My Media from your Global Navigation Menu.
  2. To go to Media Gallery: Select Media Gallery from the Course Navigation Menu.

Note: To access the Media Gallery tool in a McIntire School of Commerce course site, select McIntire Kaltura from the Course Navigation Menu instead of Media Gallery.

In Media Gallery, access the Media tab.

If you are accessing analytics in Media Gallery and any playlists have been created in the course, the Playlists tab will display as the first page.  If this is the case, select the Media tab to go to it.

Note: The Media tab will display with the number of files currently included in it, e.g., 6 Media.

Select the file.

Select the video, audio, or image file.

The Engagement Per User section of the page, where you can find a list of viewers, is often of interest to instructors. To access this list:

  1. Under the video player, select the View Engagement Per User link.
  2. The link text will change to Hide Engagement Per User and the names of the viewers will be displayed.

You can find detailed information about the other available graphs and viewing statistics in the following Kaltura help articles:
