What is the Anonymous Feedback tool?
Anonymous Feedback allows students to post comments anonymously for view only by their instructors. Using the tool can encourage feedback from students who might otherwise feel reticent about speaking up in class or approaching an instructor in person.
Note: Only participants in the Teacher role in a Canvas course can access student comments in Anonymous Feedback.
Note: Instructors may find steps to add Anonymous Feedback and other tools to their course in How do I manage Course Navigation links? (opens new window).
Note: When submitting comments via the Anonymous Feedback tool, students are expected to uphold UVA's Standards of Conduct (opens new window). While feedback is submitted anonymously, comments that violate University policies, such as messages that are abusive, harassing, or threatening, may be subject to investigation. Refer to the following UVA policies for additional information:
- IRM-002: Acceptable Use of the University’s Information Technology Resources (opens new window)
- STAF-003: Statement of Students’ Rights and Responsibilities (opens new window)
- HRM-028: Preventing and Addressing Threats or Acts of Violence (opens new window)
- HRM-009: Preventing and Addressing Discrimination and Harassment (opens new window)
