How can I find files in My Media and Media Gallery?
My Media and Media Gallery include display and filter options to locate specific media files.

Find files in My Media.
Go to My Media.

Select My Media from your Global Navigation Menu.

Set My Media display.
In My Media you may choose between three different views that will change the layout of your media content:
- Collapsed view: The titles of media files display in a layout similar to a list.
- Detailed view: The default view for My Media, where media files display with their thumbnail images and associated data.
- Table view: All media files display in tabular layout that includes details such as each file's last updated date and scheduling dates, if enabled.
Open one of the sections below for a screenshot example of each view and additional information about its display.
The Detailed view is the default view for My Media, and will display media files with their associated data. This data includes a media file's:
- Thumbnail image
- Title
- Description
- Publication status
- Tags, if any were added
- Access permissions, for example if you are the Owner or a Co-Editor of the file
- Date of creation
- Number of likes, plays (views), and comments
The Table view will display all media files in tabular layout. Each file's row includes details such as its:
- Title
- Tags
- Number of plays
- Last updated date
- Publication status
- Scheduling availability
- Scheduling start date, if enabled

Sorting and Filtering in My Media.

Multiple sorting and filtering options are available in My Media to help locate files.
Set sorting options.

The Sort By menu allows you to choose which files you would like to see first in My Media. You may sort by the dates when media files were created, updated, or scheduled, in alphabetical order, or by other criteria such as the number of views or likes.
Set filtering options.
- Select the Filters button to display filter options. Media files may be filtered by Media Type, Ownership, Publish Status, Scheduling, Ownership, Captions, Duration, Creation Date and Last Update Date.
- Select the Browse Filters Left (<) or Browse Filters Right (>) buttons to view more available filter options.
- Select Clear All to reset all filter selections.
Tip: Using Filters can help locate files for specific purposes, such as using the Captions filter to find videos that need to be captioned for accessibility. For more information on adding captions to media, see How do I request to add captions to a file in My Media? (opens new window).
Find files in Media Gallery.
Go to Media Gallery.

Select Media Gallery from the Course Navigation Menu.
Note: To access the Media Gallery tool in a McIntire School of Commerce course site, select McIntire Kaltura from the Course Navigation Menu instead of Media Gallery.
In Media Gallery, access the Media tab.

If you are viewing a file in Media Gallery and any playlists have been created in the course, the Playlists tab will display as the first page. If this is the case, select the Media tab to go to it.
Note: The Media tab will display with the number of files currently included in it, for example, 14 Media.
Set the Media Gallery display.

In Media Gallery, you may choose between three different views that will change the layout of your media content:
- Grid view: The default view for Media Gallery, where media files display as thumbnail images, with each file's title on the thumbnail.
- Detailed view: Media files display with their thumbnails and details such as each file's title, owner, and creation date.
- Collapsed view: Media files display in a text-only list with details such as each file's owner and creation date.

The Grid view is the default view for Media Gallery, and will display media files as thumbnail images in two or three columns depending on the width of your screen.
Tip: Hovering over a thumbnail with a mouse or using the Tab key on your keyboard to navigate to it will display additional details on the thumbnail, such as the file's owner and creation date.

The Detailed view will display media in one column with each file's associated data, such as the file's:
- Thumbnail image
- Title
- Owner
- Date of creation
- Number of likes, plays (views), and comments

The Collapsed view will display media in a text-only layout similar to a list with each file's associated data, such as the file's:
- Title
- Owner
- Date of creation
- Number of likes, plays (views), and comments
