How do I upload and replace a course file with UDOIT?
If you upload a new version of a file in Canvas Files, and the file has been linked or embedded elsewhere in the course, for example in a page or module, the link(s) will break.
You can use the Replace file feature in UDOIT to upload a new version of a file and have its links automatically updated.
Note: This feature only allows you to replace a file with another in the same format. For example, a Word document (.docx) must be replaced with another .docx file.
Go to UDOIT Accessibility Report.
Select UDOIT Accessibility Report from the Course Navigation Menu.
Scan your content. (Optional)
The first time UDOIT is selected from the Course Navigation Menu, it will automatically scan course content. After 24 hours, UDOIT will scan new (previously unscanned) content when accessed again from within the course. You can view when the course content was last scanned and manually start a scan for added or edited content if desired by:
- Reviewing the last scanned date.
- Selecting Scan Now.
Select the Review Course Files tab.
Select the Review Course Files tab near the top of the page.
Upload the file.
In the file upload window, the following options are available:
- Download File: Download a copy of the original file.
- View File: Preview the original file in Canvas.
- Replace File: Select the Choose a file to upload link or drag and drop a file to the upload area.
- Submit: Replace the file where it is linked in the course.
Choose a file to upload and select Submit.
Note: The uploaded file must be in the same file format as the original file. For example, a Word document (.docx) must be replaced with another .docx file.
View the success message.
When the file has finished uploading, a brief success message: "File successfully replaced and is now being scanned for accessibility issues," will be displayed.
