How do I navigate an interactive video in My Media or Media Gallery?

My Media and Media Gallery videos can include additional interactive features, such as chapters, a transcript, and/or multiple video streams. An example of a video that includes chapters and multiple streams is a PowerPoint presentation recorded using Kaltura Capture with the speaker's webcam enabled.

This article reviews how to navigate the following features of an interactive video:

Tip: For more information on how to record a video presentation using Kaltura Capture or the Record in Browser feature, see the following articles.

When viewing your video:

  1. Select the Show Navigation (magnifying glass) button.
  2. After opening the navigation panel, locate a chapter by:
    • Entering text in the Search box at the top to find it in the chapter's title or description. If the video was a PowerPoint presentation recorded using Kaltura Capture or the Record in Browser screen sharing feature, the text in each slide is automatically included as the chapter description.
    • Or scrolling up and down with your mouse or using Tab or Shift + Tab on your keyboard to focus on the chapter's thumbnail.
  3. Select the chapter's title or thumbnail to skip to its timestamp in the video.

If two video sources were recorded:

  1. By default, the video from the first source appears in a larger background window, and the video from the second source displays in a smaller picture-in-picture window in the lower-right corner of the player. In the example pictured above, a screen with a PowerPoint presentation was recorded as the first video source, making the slides appear in the larger window. The presenter's webcam was the second source, displaying their recording in the smaller window. Select the Switch to secondary screen or Switch to primary screen (two arrows) button to change which video displays in the larger and smaller window.
  2. You may select the Side by side screens (arrow in a partially filled box) button to show the camera and presentation screens in one view.
