What is the UVA Library Resources tool?

UVA Library Resources provides quick access to library materials within your Canvas course.

Note: Instructors may find steps to add UVA Library Resources and other tools to their course in How do I manage Course Navigation links? (opens new window).

UVA Library Resources Features

Instructors can contact their school's or department's liaison librarian to have the resources displayed in the tool customized for their course. You can find your librarian's contact information on the Subject Liaisons for Academic Units page (opens new window).

Students can use the tool to:

  • Schedule an appointment with their school's or department's research librarian to get assistance with using the Library website or materials for assignments.
  • Submit requests for materials. A student can request articles UVA doesn't own through Interlibrary Loan, eBooks, and scanned chapters from print books in the Library for delivery to their email inbox. Distance education students can also ask to have print books owned by the UVA Library sent to their homes via the Library's distance education service.
  • Chat with library reference staff to get answers to quick questions.
  • Sign up for in-person or online Library events such as orientations and workshops.
  • Search the Library catalog, Virgo.
  • Quickly access materials that have been curated by their school's or department's liaison librarian for their course.
